Review: Sprinkles

My friend Danielle and I took a very relaxing vacation down to Orange County and stayed in San Clemente for a few days. This is the view from where we stayed.

It was absolutely gorgeous the entire trip. After some sun, I figured we should head down to my favorite cupcakery for red velvet cupcakes. Sprinkles!

I'm much more of a fan of their Newport Beach location, so this works out well for me. There's much more outdoor seating where you can eat your cupcake right there whereas Beverly Hills only has two or three tables.

Since I love the red velvet here so much I knew I'd have to go get one of those. I try to ignore the fact that it has 497 calories, because it's definitely my all-time favorite. Since it is once again summer time, they have brought back their Key Lime Cupcakes. Danielle raved about how amazing they were last year, so I figured it was only fair to give the seasonal flavor a shot.

I have to admit, I'm not much of a lime fan, so I was a little worried when I tried it. The cupcake was fantastic. The frosting was still really sweet with a zing of lime in each bite.

I couldn't really taste much of the lime in the cake, but that was fine with me because it wasn't too overwhelming flavor wise. It was really refreshing and surprisingly wonderful. I'll definitely get another one before the summer is over.

The Red Velvet of course, doesn't even compare to anything else. I don't know why, but for some reason this cupcake tastes way better than any others that I've had. The cake is super moist, which is probably why I like it so much. Dry cake is the worst. The frosting is just the right amount of sweet with cream cheese taste. This was definitely a lovely end to a relaxing week/end. I can't wait to move closer to this Sprinkles so I can stop by more often!
